Favorite Unique Silicone molds Perfect for Resin & Cement Projects!
Silicone molds come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they can be used for a plethora of crafting projects. Personally, I love using molds shaped in some type of bowl or vase which I can repurpose for my candle-making projects. I wanted to share with y’all a few of my favorite unique silicone molds that I love using over and over!
How to choose a good silicone mold for your project needs
When it comes to candle making, I want to use molds that are thick enough to hold its shape when pouring concrete in them. This is especially important if you use molds that come with a matching lid. You want to make sure that the lid will correctly fit onto the vase or jar. If you have a silicone mold that is flimsy and doesn’t hold its shape very well, as you pour any sort of ingredient – whether its resin or cement or anything else – you’ll find that it tilts to one side or may lose the shape its supposed to have.
The best way to test this – other than just by feeling the thickness and analyzing the make of it – is by pouring water into the mold, and setting it onto a table. If you notice that it can’t hold its shape very well, then this is likely not going to be a good mold to work with. Unless of course, you don’t mind a little unevenness.
Molds for Candle Vases & Jars
Now that I’ve described choosing a good quality silicone mold, I’ll share with you some go-to favorites I use all the time for my never ending crafting projects!
If you’re looking for vases and jars, another thing to keep in mind is how large you want them to be. The larger you want to go (vase or jar size), the thicker the silicone tends to be. OR, you’ll often see molds that aren’t actually silicone (more like plastic) but they’re reinforced with a hard plastic shell which you use to enclose your mold in. This helps keep it’s shape.
Here’s a few favorite ones I like that are purely made out of silicone.

Here’s my favorite ones to use with additional support. These contain a hard outer shell due to their size. They’re meant to be used for making planter pots but I also use them for candle making projects.

I love these planter molds because they’re a good size. They’re not so large which can make your products incredibly heavy, but they’re also not so small that you’ll have a difficult time decorating the tops if you want to embellish your candles with 3D candle pieces such as succulents and florals.

Funkier Vase-Type Molds
Sometimes I want to explore something a little more funky and step out of my boring comfort zone of your typical vase shapes. I find that Aliexpress is a really great place to find unique silicone molds that you wouldn’t find on other places such as Amazon or your local craft store.
Here’s a few cute ones I love to use every now and then when I want to make a gift for someone. Keep in mind these are not as big as the planter vases but there’s still plenty of room to fill them with candle wax and to make a worthwhile candle (or fill these with your favorite flowers)!

These molds are super fun to work with! If you work with resin and cement to make your pots and vases from scratch, consider changing it up a bit and trying some of the more unique ones! They would make excellent gifts! Not only that, but these molds I’ve picked out are pretty sturdy – meaning they hold their shape well.
If you’re in the market for new molds, consider these. Their price tag might be a little steeper than most molds, but trust me! They’re well worth it!
Happy crafting! Please share your crafting projects in the comments below! I’d love to see what you’ve made with your unique silicone molds.
