Zimmermann on a Budget: Unveiling Hidden Gems and Stylish Dupes for Fashion Savvy Shoppers

I have heard of and seen many Zimmerman designer pieces over the years that piqued my interest, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered the name of the actual designer after some digging. Ironically, I was introduced to this designer brand through the various dupes I unknowingly purchased of theirs.

I remember walking into a Zimmermann store one day because I wanted to admire all of those beautifully designed dresses with those intricate details and lovely laces….and also to take a peek at the price tags! And shocker! some of these dresses go for well over $1000!

And while I do admire the craftmanship and their choice in fabric, I just can’t see myself purchasing one of their items – at least not full price. Not on my budget and salary, haha!

So where do I go to shop for Zimmermann for less? There are plenty of options! I’ll go over a few below and how I go about finding quality pieces.

ALiexpress

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll notice that I bring up Aliexpress a lot! That’s because this is my number one place to go to when I want to find dupes of designer pieces such as Zimmermann that are in style and relatively new (within 1 to 5 years of their runway collection). If you’re looking for their newer items for a discount, you’re likely out of luck and may have to wait a bit longer until they go on sale or are re-sold on second-hand markets.

Otherwise, Aliexpress is where I’m going as it is a goldmine for budget-savvy fashionistas. When you visit the site, use keywords like “Zimmermann dupe,” “Zimmermann style,” or “floral ruffled dress” to find great alternatives. Be sure to read reviews and check seller ratings to ensure you’re getting quality items.

Also, if you have the Aliexpress App, then take advantage of their search by photos feature. Search for your favorite Zimmermann style on Google or Pinterest, then save or take a snapshot of the item to search Aliexpress’ marketplace.

If you see dresses that are anything less than $50, stay away from those. They’re usually of lower quality and I guarantee that what you see in the photos is VERY LIKELY NOT what you will get. The materials, size, and fit are generally not what is described in the the listings.

Poshmark

If you’re not into buying Zimmermann dupes (lucky you!) and want to own some authentic pieces without paying full price, my next best place to checkout is Poshmark. If you are unfamiliar with Poshmark, read my post on what Poshmark is and how I use it to efficiently find the best deals. Poshmark is one of the best-kept secrets of fashion-savvy shoppers.

Here, you can find gently used Zimmermann pieces at a fraction of the original cost. Keep an eye out for specific search terms like “Zimmermann floral” or “Zimmermann lace” to snag a fantastic deal on an authentic piece.

Don’t be afraid to negotiate with the sellers. Poshmark has a feature that lets you make offers, and it’s a great way to score a deal. Just be respectful and reasonable in your negotiations. The app also has a system of user ratings and reviews, so be sure to check the seller’s profile for positive feedback and a high rating. Shopping from trusted sellers can give you peace of mind.

If you spot multiple items from the same seller that you love, consider bundling them. Many sellers offer discounts when you purchase more than one item!

I’ve personally had some incredible finds on Poshmark, including a stunning authentic Zimmermann and Zimmermann-inspired dress for a fraction of the retail price. It’s the perfect way to stay chic and on-trend without breaking the bank.

Ebay

Now while eBay isn’t my top place to go for designer and second-hand clothing and accessories, I do think it is worth mentioning. I have heard from several friends that Ebay is actually their top choice when shopping, and that they believe they find even better deals there than on Poshmark or other second-hand online marketplaces.

Ebay is a lot like Poshmark in that it is a second hand marketplace (although many sellers sell brand new items). In addition, you can bid on items. Ebay also allows you to save specific searches, so you can be notified when new Zimmermann listings are added. Set up your search with keywords like “Zimmermann dress,” “Zimmermann two piece set,” or “Zimmermann top” and let the algorithm do the work for you. This way, you won’t miss out on any great deals.

You’ll also see both auction-style listings and Buy It Now options. While the latter provides instant gratification, auctions can sometimes yield better deals. Keep an eye on those auctions. If you’re patient, you might snag your dream Zimmermann piece at an unbelievable price.

When looking for dupes or Zimmermann-inspired pieces, always prioritize quality. Sure, you’re saving money, but you don’t want to sacrifice quality for a lower price. Look for items made from durable materials and with good stitching. Generally, good dupes go for $100+. Anything less is a gamble, and certainly anything less than $50 should be avoided. Those pieces are usually made of polyester and other subpar materials and cuts.

Thanks to platforms like Ebay, Poshmark and AliExpress, you can explore a variety of discounted authentic pieces or designer-inspired or dupe pieces that capture the essence of Zimmermann’s style without straining your budget.
