The Perfect Resort Beachwear Dress (And other Resort Wedding Guest Dresses)

This past weekend I went to Cancun, Mexico to see my best friend get married to my other best friend! We stayed at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort, which was such a beautiful resort! I was looking forward to getting some sun, connecting with all my friends, and wearing some of my more fun, flowy and flowery dresses which could make for great resort wedding guest dresses.

Finding the perfect ensemble for such a special occasion was a journey, but it was worth it at the end! Since I was only there for four nights, I wanted to make each evening outfit perfect! It was very hard to choose!

This dress (I think) is a designer inspired for Bronx & Banco which is one of my favorite designers. I wore this dress to my friends wedding reception dinner by the beach, I love to get their dresses at a discount on Poshmark or Ebay, OR – I will usually try to find a designer inspired one for much much less!

Want to know where to find Bronx & Banco at a discount or Designer Inspired Bronx & Banco? I wrote a post about it here!

This particular one I found on Amazon. I’m wearing an XS, and I actually had to alter the shoulder a bit because it was too loose on me and I wanted a tighter fit diagonally across my chest. I did the stitching myself and actually accentuated the slight shoulder ruffles a bit. It came out quite well and you couldn’t even notice it was altered!

I just loved how it was so flowy with the beach wind, but not obnoxiously trip-on-yourself flowy. Michael and I took a bunch of “in the moment” photos by the beach. This dress ticked off all the boxes: it was light and airy, with just the right amount of flow to catch the ocean breeze. The length was spot-on – not too long to drag in the sand, but not too short either. And let’s talk about breathability – this dress felt like a dream even in the Mexican heat!

In addition to it fitting me very well, I also got a lot of compliments by many other guests there.

If this is your style, then I highly recommend taking a look at Bronx & Banco and their more beachy type dresses.

Other Brands To Check Out

Another recent favorite brand and style of resort, vacation dresses that I immediately fell in love with was from the brand PatBO. My goodness, these dresses are so beautiful, but so so pricey!

There are designer inspired ones out there but I haven’t made the jump the purchase any yet because some of the customer review photos don’t look that appealing. I just did not find the quality to be that good to justify making a purchase – even if it was a cheap purchase. Then again, what you pay for is what you get. Low price will often lead to low quality. Avoid sites like Chic-Bay. These sites just ripoff photos from the original designers and claim them as their own. You’ll end up getting much lower quality replicas and you’ll have a hard time returning your purchase for a refund.

If and when I do find some good ones out there I’ll be sure to share these with everyone!

Also, be sure to check out these top 10 must-have pieces I found on Aya Mana!

But for now, if you want to get PatBO at a discount, your best bet is Poshmark, eBay, and Mercari.

This trip was a lot of fun! I’m so glad I was able to spend my friend’s special day with her. And I got to wear a dress that I’ve had hanging in my closet for months and just been dying to wear it!

Tune in for my next post as I share what I wore on my friend’s actual wedding day!
