My Easy and Affordable DIY Baby Shower Favors: Thoughtful Ideas to Delight Your Guests

I’m back at it with more favors for yet another event I so gladly helped partake! A few posts back I wrote about a baby shower my friend had to celebrate her baby girl! I was part of the event planning and tasked with decorating! Naturally, baby shower favors also played a role in the organizing and decorating!

If you’re looking for easy and affordable baby shower favors to create, I’ve got just the DIY idea for you! The best part is it involves something sweet!

I had a few boxes of empty glass lids with metal jars (originally intended for candle making). I had 3 boxes of 12 per box which was plenty for the number of guests coming. These honestly won’t cost very much – a box of a dozen of these in similar style will likely run you one to two dollars per jar. Amazon has some great deals for bulk jars and they come in smaller sizes!

Remember that the smaller they are, the less you’ll need to stuff them. So something small and sweet will make for the perfect and thoughtful thank you favor! Also, this will help you cut down a lot on costs of materials. Here’s a few of my favorite jar types to work with:

TOP LEFT: 12 Pack 8oz Thick Glass Jars with Lids, Clear Round Containers
TOP RIGHT: 32 PACK 6 oz Clear Glass Yogurt Jars With Gold Lids
MIDDLE RIGHT: Mini Yogurt Jars 40 Pack, 7 oz Favor Jars with Cork Lids
BOTTOM: Classic Square Glass Jars with Lids – Set of 12 Mini Glass Jars with Corks

I think an ideal jar size is anywhere from five to 8 ounces. Anything smaller and you’ll barely fit anything worthwhile. And anything larger you’re looking to spend more money to fill them! Small jars are great for liquid-type favors such as honey! Large jars bigger than 8 ounces are a pain and I’d avoid using them as favors especially baby shower favors.

As for other materials I used, I got some ribbon to wrap and make bows around the lids. And I got these adorable gold Thank-You stickers to place on each of the glass jars.

LEFT: Heart Circle Bubble Shape Thank You Adhesive Label Stickers, 1000 Stickers per Roll
RIGHT: 50 Yards Gold Glitter Ribbon 3/8 Inch, Sparkly Thin Solid Fabric Ribbon

My friend is having a baby girl so pink themed candy is the way to go! Here’s what I picked up on Amazon to fill up the jars:

LEFT: Starburst All Pink Chewy Candy -1 Pound Approx 90 Strawberry Candies
CENTER: Fairtime Taffy Bulk Pink Candy for Candy Buffets, Strawberry Taffy
RIGHT: Pink Hard Candy – 3 Pounds – Baby Shower Candy Girl – Tutti Frutti Flavored Candies

I added them all together and placed them in a bowl to mix around. This makes it easier to scoop up a handful and fill them into my glass jars.

All that there was left to do was wrap some ribbon around the lids. I used two colors and alternated the gold with varying shades of pink, white and purple. Got them ready to go in the box and over to my friends house.

Want to know what decor I purchased and where for my friends baby shower? Read all about it here!

We had them displayed at the entrance of the house along with a balloon display (which I pathetically tried to put together but still came out kind of OK, actually!)

What do y’all think? In total this probably cost me $100 for all of the supplies and candy and assuming I purchased the glass jars as well (which I didn’t in this case). But this makes for a great, inexpensive DIY alternative for baby shower favors!
