My daily morning & nightly skincare routine
Have you ever found yourself watching one of those makeup tutorial videos of a makeup artist dolling herself up? Well I did the other day and about halfway through it I felt exhausted for the person! The makeup artist even had to speed up their video through most of it because I’m sure it probably took her a good couple of hours to get her makeup done.
I honestly don’t know how anybody finds the time for a routine like that, even if it isn’t on a daily basis!
And that is why I decided to write this post. I wanted to write about some of the skincare & makeup products I use on a (mostly) daily basis. I normally try to keep my routine to 5 minutes if I am applying makeup. Otherwise, it’s about a minute or two for prepping my face up for freshness both morning and night!
I usually don’t wear too much make up. I like to attribute it to my skincare regimen and thankfully good genes. I don’t have many wrinkles for my age and I’d like to think that eating the right foods and using certain products really helped with this.
Here I’ll list the products I tend to use, how often I use them, and when during the day I apply them.
JASON Age Renewal Vitamin E 25,000 IU Moisturizing Crème
Cost: $8 – $14
How Often: Daily
Applied: Morning & Before Bedtime
Where to Buy: Amazon and The Vitamin Shoppe to name a few
This is honestly my go-to product. I love it so much and swear by it. And NOT because my boyfriend’s name is also Jason, LOL. This is a great product because it keeps my skin moisturized. It’s got a good texture to it and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky. I also love that it’s paraben free. I used to use a similar product by CVS but immediately stopped and switched to this one because of the absence of paraben chemical. It is also very affordable – A 4 ounce jar such as the one pictured here normally goes for $10 and it’ll last you a few months! Definitely worth the money in my book. I’ve been using this cream for years! My recommendation is to apply it in the morning after waking up, at night before going to sleep, and anytime you plan to head out.
Also, this product works great with foundation – especially the liquid kind. Have you ever suffered from caked-on looking foundation that starts to “crack”? This cream literally fixes that! Apply this first as a base, then your foundation and blend it in. It’ll keep it smooth and gel-like and prevent it from becoming brittle on your face.
Mizon Korean Skin Care Set: All in One
Cost: $45 and up
How Often: Daily
Applied: Morning & Before Bedtime
Where to Buy: Amazon and Search Wellness to name a few
Next up is the Snail Repair Cream set by MIZON.
I love, love, LOVE this set. You may be turned off by the product’s snail mucin extract ingredient but, trust me, it’s not like you are lathering a snail all over your face.
This Korean product provides moisture, wrinkle care, spot care, elasticity and vitality without any of the harmful ingredients. This particular set is a little on the pricey side with a price tag of around $50 but you get 4 great products which really come out to around $12 a product. Here’s what it’s got:
- Snail repairing foam cleanser: foam cleanser containing snail secretion filtrate.
- All in One Snail Repair Cream: 92% of snail slime mucin that provides outstanding skin regeneration and recovery, solving multiple skin concerns and troubles.
- Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule: Ampoule formulated with Mizon’s famous snail filtrate. 80% high concentration of snail mucin extract that provides efficient total care regenerating the skin and solving complex skin problems.
- Snail Repair Eye Cream: 80% snail slime mucin to provide moisture care, reducing dark circles and fine lines around the eyes.
The gist of this is that I apply the foam cleanser once and at night before going to bed. You simply wash your face, keep it partly wet and apply just a dot of this product. It’ll foam up a bit. Apply it on your face, neck and hands. Then wait for a few minutes, wash it off and pat your face and neck dry!
Next, I apply the 92% repair cream. Again, you only need a small dab of it. Apply it evenly over your face until fully absorbed.
Then i take the serum (or the Ampoule as they call it) and only need about half of the serum dropper (about 2-3 drops) and apply that evenly to the face and neck as well.
And finally, the eye cream. Just a small amount and apply around the eyes until it’s been fully absorbed 🙂 After all of these products, I then apply the JASON Vitamin E cream i mentioned above over it and call it a night!
Proactiv Solution Acne Treatment System
Cost: $20 and up
How Often: 1-2 times a week
Applied: Before Bedtime
Where to Buy: Proactiv Site
I don’t really use this product much as I’ve never really had acne in my life (blessed!), but I know that this product works VERY well because I’ve seen great results from friends and family who have used it. This is more of a preventative care measure for me.
I apply usually once or twice a week – and normally when I remember to do so. Otherwise, I can go for long periods without using this. And even then I don’t bother using Steps 1 and 2. I go straight to step 3.
I apply a small bit of step 3 Repair treatment cream right after a nightly shower and before applying the other skincare products mentioned above in this post.
And that’s basically it! I don’t use many other products much, even though I’ve amassed a HUGE collection (face masks, collagen, serums, you name it I probably have it). There are other products I do like but this set right here in this post is my absolute staple.
In future posts, I will write about other skincare products I like to use and their results. And I’ll also write a few makeup ones as well.
